LIGHT PAINTING

I originally started making basic shapes with a simple flashlight. I enjoyed experimenting and seeing what different shapes could be created....

As time went on my images were getting better and i then introduced colour by covering the flashlight in coloured sweet wrappers.

Here are some of my coloured images....

The different lines of colour in these pictures create motion and speed. I think this is very interesting so i developed into this and I started looking at these lines of colour which led me to working with lights and the speed of light creating a similar effect as in these pictures below. I tried to remake my orignal images using lights....

I made these images by 'painting' with lights in a dark room and taking a picture. O personally prefer the picture with colour as i think it is more exiting and really captures the effect of somebody running at speed.
I started off looking at human motion in the beginning and the different movements of the body during different activities. I then started looking at human motion in relation to speed and rapid movement and I became extremely interested in the blur effect of colour this speed created when i took pictures of people running. Here are some examples of the pictures i had taken....

My first post!

I'm Gillian and I'm in first year in LSAD. The title of the project we have been given is 'Movement and Motion'. This project will last for 3 months and over this time i will be posting my progress. When we were first given the project title, i thought long and hard about what direction i would like to take with it. I put the two words, movement and motion, into the centre of the page and started to brainstorm. After some time, I had a number of ideas however the one that i have decided to do in movement of the human body.
